I’ve always wanted to do a true gender reveal session. Not just one where the couple announces what they are having to their family members, but to be able to capture mom-to-be and dad-to-be’s reactions to the gender of their own baby. Last weekend, I was able to do just that!
Emily and I have been friends since birth- and thats over 27 years! There are 4 of us girls who have been friends since we were born. Our parents all knew each other and all of the moms were expecting around the same time. Sure enough, all 4 of them had girls, all within 4 months apart! Since then, we have celebrated every holiday season together, even as we all went off in different directions for college. We made it a priority to all stay close!
This past Christmas, we were exchanging gifts like normal, but Emily gave us something extra exciting this year. A photo frame of her and her husband, Brandon, staying that they were pregnant! We all teared up, as it was such an exciting time for them!
Two weeks ago, at 10:00am on a Wednesday, I got a text from Emily asking if it would be okay if she had the gender given to me, without them knowing. She was on her way to her OB appointment, and they decided they wanted to do a gender reveal session. Of course, I said YES! It was put in an envelope and Emily dropped it off to her coworker, Samantha, who then called me to give me the results. I was SO excited it was a girl! I quickly ordered some pink confetti cannons (which you can find here) and a few pink smoke grenades that could be used for the reveal.
A few days later, we got together (along with their closest family members and friends) and did the big reveal! Before they found out, I asked them to write down what gender they thought the baby would be, and we took photos of Team Boy and Team Girl. After that, it was showtime! I am so excited to share the highlights of Emily + Brandon’s Gender Reveal Session with you all today and I hope you enjoy it!

It’s a GIRL!
It was so fun seeing how excited they were! Emily was jumping up and down and had the biggest smile on her face! Then Brandon started running around with one of the smoke grenades. 🙂
Congratulations to Emily + Brandon on the upcoming arrival of their baby GIRL! Aunt Leslie cannot wait to meet this precious girl and I’m sure you will see more of their journey into parenthood as I capture their maternity session and newborn photos!
