Kate + Jack’s NAS JAX Homecoming… where do I even begin. First off, if i’ve photographed you in the last year, you probably recognize Kate. Yes, that’s my sweet assistant! Her beau, Jack, was deployed for almost 8 months with the Navy, and he finally came home this month!
A little backstory about Kate + Jack. When she mentioned they were talking, I knew there was something special about him. If you know Kate, you know she is the happiest, smiliest girl out there. But the way she talked about Jack, that was a whole new level of happiness I hadn’t ever seen before. They had only been together for a few months before his deployment, and saying goodbye was not easy. Thankfully, we kept her busy with peak wedding season, holiday mini sessions, and lots of engagement sessions. She even stayed with Paul and I for a little while to pass the time, and it was so fun having her around.
Homecoming Day. What a rollercoaster of emotions. It was just her and I there to welcome Jack home from his fourth deployment. It was cold, windy and rainy, and neither of us had bothered to look at the weather that day. Needless to say, we were both freezing while waiting in the hangar for the plane to land. As soon as the plane landed, Kate started crying. Therefore, I cried because I was watching her cry, and was just so darn happy for her. There was a family next to us who had a 6 month old baby, about to meet their dad for the first time. Cue even MORE tears, thank heavens for waterproof mascara.
Military Homecomings are SO special and it was an unforgettable experience capturing their reunion for them. I will definitely be saying YES to anyone who ever wants me to photograph a homecoming in the future!
Jack, welcome home and thank you for your service. Kate, glad you have your boy back. 🙂
Here’s some of my favorites from their NAS JAX Homecoming!
And this one in Black + White because they are just so perfect!
